Illustration Friday: Imagine

Imagine what would happen if an ancient totem pole came to life...This is from a Sasquatch Books publication due out in April 2006 - A Totem Tale by Deb Vanasse.

I've been having lots of fun with the polar bear posts of late and will hopefully get in an "Imagine No. 2" posting over the coming weekend...

Nice Erik, I love the illos from the book. When does it come out? Seeing the process is great, not to mention the little "all nighter" cap you are wearing! HA!

These critters have a lot of personality, and they still retain the stylistic look of Pacific Northwest native art. Nifty!

Very cool idea, and so well executed. Now I CAN imagine a totempole coming to life!

this is just beautiful. I'm a big fan of Inuit art, and you've managed to retain the stylistic qualities while combining them with natural moving animal bodies. So charming, sweet and fluid - especially considering how rigid and (let’s face it) scary these stylized creatures can look sometimes! Excellent work!
