Illustration Friday: Monster

A busy week or more ahead...

Totem Tale: A Tall Story from Alaska

Another recent illustration project "comes to life" this next week with the official publication date for TOTEM TALE: A TALL STORY FROM ALASKA. Having grown up in Anchorage, I was especially excited to work on this book and to explore even further all of the Tlingit totems that inspire its main characters.

Deb Vanasse is a current resident of Fairbanks, Alaska and has written many books with roots in her near arctic surroundings. TOTEM TALE is available now online or coming soon to a bookstore near you!

I've included a few more illustrations from the book below:

Sweet Dreams...

No Illustration Friday post from me last week. I was putting the finishing touches on this headboard for my daughter's bed:

There are trials enough in simply trying to make a living creating books. I can assure you that I won't be entering the custom painted furniture market anytime soon :)

If you like the look of this, and want to try your own hand at such a thing, the bed is an IKEA NOSA twin. It has this black inset panneling in the headboard that was screaming to be dressed up a bit. Happy Spring!

Check out the new updates to my website :) It's still a work in progress, but after several years I have at least finally posted some new artwork in the portfolios section AND added a small selection of black & white work.

In the next several weeks, I will more responsibly deledicate my time to real work, and update the look for other pages as I can.
